People Caring Award – Certificate of Merit

The HSBC Living Business Award 2012 Presentation Ceremony is going to be held at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong on 16^th November 2012. Our company is honored to be awarded “People Caring Award – Certificate of Merit”. This ceremony is organized by HSBC in recognizing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) who manage their business responsibly and sensitively with regard to people, the community and the environment to ensure long-term development.

Five main categories will be judged: employee training and development, internal communication, equal opportunities, employee welfare, work-life balance and family-friendly practices. Our company participated in this award for the first time and is pleased to be awarded Certificate of Merit in People Caring.

About the Award

“People Caring Award – Certificate of Merit” belongs to part of the “HSBC Living Business Awards”, which is an annual award scheme organized by HSBC supported by the Business Environment Council (BEC), the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) and the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management (HKITM). 

The award was first launched in 2004 and has recognized over 1,000 local SMEs from a wide range of industries. Entering the eighth year, the award scheme has a structure, which focuses on the three pillars: environmental protection, community engagement, and care for employees.

Hong Kong RFID Ltd – Winning of The Tao Heung Innovative Entrepreneur Award

The 16^th Innovative Entrepreneur Awards Presentation Ceremony was successfully held at the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, 17^th August 2012. Hong Kong RFID Ltd, joining the competition for the first time, was honored to receive "The Tao Heung Innovative Entrepreneur Award". Over 150 guests, including panels of judges, representatives from winning companies, leading businessmen and reporters, attended the award presentation ceremony.

Organized by City Junior Chamber (CJC), the campaign aims to recognize the achievements and contributions of entrepreneurs who pursue excellence and embrace innovative ideas relentlessly. Throughout the years, recognitions has been presented to 150 awardees to encourage and recognize entrepreneurs’ efforts on applying creativity and innovation in their journeys of creating startups, as well as acknowledging Hong Kong companies established for at least 2 years to at most 6 years which have developed or launched an innovative product during the period.

"Be Creative, we love Innovation" is the theme of this year. To stand out, Hong Kong RFID Ltd. has demonstrated its strengths and innovativeness throughout the whole selection process, which included an initial screening by the judging panel and a presentation at the final judging interview. The judging criteria are based on a range of aspects, including originality, creativity & uniqueness, risk & financial management, marketing strategy, developmental prospects and social responsibility.

It is a great honor for Hong Kong RFID Ltd. to be recognized as a creative and innovative entrepreneur in today’s competitive environment. This is attributed by its persistence and continuous efforts to innovate through pioneering technology to enhance the living standard in our community. “The Innovative Entrepreneur Award" belongs to part of the “Innovative Entrepreneur 2012 Series", organized by the famous awarding brand - City Junior Chamber with more than a decade of history. Since 2007, "Innovative Entrepreneur” has also developed three other brands: Innovative Entrepreneur Association; Innovative Entrepreneur Academy & Innovative Entrepreneur Odyssey. Winning of Hong Kong Awards for Industries (HKAI) 2012

Congratulation to Hong Kong RFID Ltd.! Since 2006, it has been the 3^rd year for the company to win the Hong Kong Awards for Industry (HKAI). This year, Hong Kong RFID Ltd. is once again honored to be awarded the Certificate of Merit in the HKAI Machinery category with its innovative active RFID solution - Electronic Fuel Delivery System (EFDS). In the award presentation ceremony, representative of the HKAI Organizing Committee presented the award to Hong Kong RFID Ltd. to recognize its achievement.

Electronic Fuel Delivery System (EFDS) powered by 2.4GHz Active RFID

The awarded system, EFDS, utilizes latest active RFID technology to help significantly improve operating efficiency in the oil industry through automation of the whole fuel injection and recording process. With only several RFID equipment installed - Mobile Handheld Reader, ID tag, Operation Timer and ES-Box; the daily fuel injection operation can become much efficient and convenient. Using the ID tag with LED light for identification of specific vehicles, operators can control the whole process with the Mobile Handheld Reader, which can then automatically download data such as starting & stopping time of fuel injection and injection volume for each vehicle. A receipt and report can also be generated for record and further efficiency analysis. 

By overcoming difficulties of the existing barcode system, such as durability; efficiency, data accuracy and wrong mapping, this new automatic active RFID system will greatly save the time of fuel injection process as well as help monitoring fuel consumption. With such high reliability and innovative design, the system has impressed the judges and is believed to make unprecedented contributions to the industry.

Participation in HKSTPC Award Showcase Launching Ceremony 2012

On 1 March 2012, Hong Kong RFID (HK-RFID) was cordially invited to the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC) Award Showcase Launching Ceremony held at the Hong Kong Science Park.

With the presence of honorable guests Mr Anthony Tan, Chief Executive Officer of HKSTPC, the showcase highlighted the recognitions and achievements gained by the incubation and partner companies.

Officiated by Mr Terence Chan, Assistant Commissioner for Innovation and Technology, the showcase was launched with the presence of representatives of award organizers and awardee companies, industry veterans and media members.

Exemplary technology and innovations in prominent local, regional and international awards or competitions were shared at the launch of the ceremony.

Being one of the successful incubates company, HK-RFID’s two awards were selected to be included in the showcase representing its achievements:

Hong Kong RFID Ltd. is awarded the Gold Award of the category "Best Innovation and Research (Postgraduate & Open)" of the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2011 with our Interactive Floor Tile System after going through 5 rounds of assessment. With the System's outstanding performance, the panel of judges consisting of local ICT experts and professionals also awarded the Grand Award of the same category to us.

The Interactive Floor Tile System is the R&D outcome from Hong Kong RFID's excellent team of electronic and product development engineers. The System is a combination of innovative product design and skillful electronic design. The same system is used for the Hong Kong Exhibition of World Exposition 2010 Shanghai.

Demonstrated in the Urban Best Practices Area in the Hong Kong Exhibition, the Interactive Floor Tile System is able to trace movement of visitors by sensing changes in the electro field. Traditionally, this is achieved by weight detection, which is not possible in this case due to the heavy glass covering. To improve sensibility and reliability, electro field sensors have been used instead. Whenever a visitor passes by, the sensors detect the electro change and the corresponding tiles light up, leaving a lighted trail. The system also produces light effect with different rhythms, brightness, colors and patterns that can be preset to match different themes.

The technology employed in the Interactive Floor Tile System is applicable in other settings such as intelligent home systems and shopping malls. Hong Kong RFID’s research and development team will further explore different applications of it. We hope our success will inspire other technological firms.

Awarded the Caring Company of 2010/2011 by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service

To inspire corporate social responsibility, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service has introduced the Caring Company Scheme. Under this scheme, our company is honored to be recognized as an organization with excellent corporate citizenship demonstrated in the following areas – caring for the community, the employee and the environment.

In the previous year, our company has been in close partnership with Christian Family Service Centre. Together we co-organized a flag selling day and sold vouchers, which raised more than HKD$800,000 for the community. We have also encouraged staff members to participate in fundraising events and community services launched by ORBIS, The Community Chest and Society for the Welfare of the Autistic Persons to support the underprivileged.

Hong Kong RFID sees every one of its employees as a valuable asset. To show concern for their work-life balance and well-being, we offer paid sick leave, annual leave and family leave. We have set up a caring group to regularly organize social gatherings to foster a stronger bond between our staff.

Furthermore, our company is committed in protecting the environment and sustainable development. 3R policies are adopted in the office to reduce waste. Sustainable seafood is selected for business banquet. Staffs are encouraged to take part in reducing carbon emission.

Corporate citizenship plays a fundamental role in our business operation. Hong Kong RFID has been awarded as a outstanding participant of the Intellectual Capital Management Consultancy Programme (January, 2011)

Hong Kong RFID Ltd is proudly awarded as an outstanding participant of the Intellectual Capital Management Consultancy Programme jointly lauched by the Intellectual Property Department (IPD), the Innovation and Technology Commission and the Trade and Industry Department. The programme was created to help enterprises gain a better understanding of Intellectual Capital Management and utilize a set of management tools to maximize their business potential. With the aid of training materials and consultancy services from the supporting parties, key intellectual capital were identified in the intellectual capital report written upon completion of the programme. The main drivers behind our company's success, which include our human, structural and relational capital, are elaborated in details in the report. It allows stakeholders to have a better understanding of our capibility and future potential.
 
According to IPD, Hong Kong RFID is the first company in the information technology industry to publish an intellectual capital report. As a pioneer in this campaign, our company's effort has been recognized by a certificate awarded by the organizers. It is hoped that more companies will follow our footsteps and pursue intellectual capital management. In the future, we will continue to commit in the advancement of the industry.

Congratulate to the Business Development Director of Hong Kong RFID Ltd.

Mr. Craig Jo, Business Development Director of Hong Kong RFID Ltd. and also Vice Chairman of Young DAB has obtained the 3rd Youth Leadership Award of HARBOUR JUNIOR CHAMBER (HJC).

Craig has foreseen that Hong Kong would undergo a transformation in which science and technology and innovation is of more emphasis as early as 2004. He resolutely created his own information technology company – Hong Kong RFID Ltd.; and with his continued efforts and perseverance the company's performance is now flourishing with good reputation and strong technical capabilities. The company has won the trust of many famous enterprises in being their system supplier and is heading for an even brighter prospect.

Hong Kong RFID Ltd won the Hong Kong Awards for Industries in 2006, and the Hong Kong Information and Communications Technology Awards in 2007. Last year, Hong Kong RFID Ltd. has been chosen as a successful case of the Incu-Tech Programme by the HKSAR Government.
