Russia TV "NTV" interviewed Hong Kong RFID Ltd (Revised)

In the interview, Mr. Fung talked about his company, shared a lot of his R&D experiences and also introduced many innovative applications of RFID technology including jewelry management and Sushi Hygiene monitoring.

As each tag carries a unique ID, the RFID reader detects a certain amount of tags each time and shows their ID in a software interface. Therefore you can easily know how many and which jewelry items there are instantly.

Many Hong Kong people enjoy eating Japanese Sushi. A RFID tag would be attached the bottom of a sushi dish and the time the sushi dish leaves the kitchen would be recorded in the system when the tag is being read by the reader as the dish passes through it.

As per scheduled, the “expired” sushi dishes would be removed from the conveyor belt. Customers then can enjoy fresh sushi all the time. The waiter can sum up the bill by simply pressing a button on the handheld reader to read all tags on the dishes at the customers’ table.

Mr. Fung shared some more interesting topics during the interview. This interview is to be broadcasted in a TV series “Hi-Technology in Hong Kong.” For further details about the interview, please refer to the announcements of NTV.

Participated in BizIT MINI Expo 2010

“BizIT MINI EXOI 2010” is a joint conference organized by the ITAA ARPA to promote the wider use of IT in enterprises. Business elites are invited to share their knowledge, unique insights, and inspiring commercial enterprise strategic IT concepts and some new thinking.

Hong Kong RFID Ltd. has always been active in the IT industry and is more than happy to participat in this exhibition with our latest active RFID products and solution. Compared to passive RFID, active RFID have more powerful reading performance and will not be influenced by water and metal.

Active RFID tags contain batteries for more powerful signals but the size of tags will then become a constraint for different usages. Regarding this issue, we have launched the world’s smallest active tag. It can be used on people and is suitable for location tracking systems. Using this small tag, companies can have better customer relationship management (CRM) among the valuable customers. Such system is already in operation in the Hong Kong Convention Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) to manage the people flow in different exhibitions and shows.

Besides, Mr. Mike Fung, the Operation Manager of Hong Kong RFID Ltd. hosted a seminar session to introduce the RFID applications in the coming years. In fact, RFID technology is still developing and has great potential in the IT industry.

We believe that RFID can bring economic benefits and effectiveness to enterprises in their daily operation and management. By participating in this exhibition, we are able to explore different market needs. We are glad to share and introduce the latest technology developments of RFID.

Construction safety with RFID system
Construction sites are challenging environments to manage with the many critical issues like asset management, tool tracking, production safety as well as worker safety. To meet these challenges, more and more construction companies and site contractors are integrating Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in their day-to-day operation of construction sites and projects.

The o
ccupational accident rates in the construction industry are always higher than that in any other industries because of the uncertainty in labor behaviors and working environments. Safety management could not be easily carried out due to the open environment and dynamic events at all times in construction sites. Therefore, serious accidents happen with these complex reasons.
The adaptability of RFID technology in construction industry helps to solve these serious problems.

Personal Warning System
Our Active RFID tag is developed based on Active RFID technology that can sense and monitor the worker’s location or working area within the detecting zone. A worker only have to carry an Active RFID tag with buzzer and when they enter into a dangerous area, the tag will raise alarm to warn the operator and supervisor accordingly.

Real-time tracking and locating system
The wireless communication protocol can satisfy requirement of RFID communication rate in construction sites. Also, the new safety device of active alarming equipped with RFID tag provides not only personal protection but also real-time sensing and monitoring for management.

The location identification module can provide working route tracking and suit the condition of construction sites. Our active RFID reader can read 9m to 50m radius depends on tuning and the real environment. The active tag can help you identify the current location of worker. If they are in the dangerous area, the worker ID and location would be shown to the supervisor for further actions.

The supervisor can periodically review the record and analysis the working condition of each worker. They can give advice to the dangerous workers in order to reduce the accident rates.

Wide Applications
Besides, the active RFID tag can be used on vehicles or other machines in the construction site. Therefore, when the drivers enter the dangerous area; the supervisor would be notified.

RFID technology will bring management in construction industry more control over safety in sites with advanced testing of stability and longevity on the Active equipments. Wireless transition integrated with database would make the device more efficient and accurate. This new safety device can monitor safety condition of labors and contractors and provide security and emergency control for dynamic and working environment.
